"The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents. We live in a placid island of ignorance in the midst of black seas of infinity, and it was not meant that we should voyage far. The sciences, each straining in its own direction, have hitherto harmed us little; but some day the piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality, and of our frightful position therein, that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the deadly light into the peace and safety of a new dark age."
- H. P. Lovecraft, The Call of Cthulhu (1926)

Howard Phillips Lovecraft (20 August 1890–15 March 1937) was an obscure writer of horror fiction who lived in the 1920's, and who was never fully appreciated in his time. Today, he is considered one of the masters of modern horror, and his works have been translated to television, and movies such as "The Dunwich Horror", "The Unnameable", "Re-Animator", "Bride Of Re-Animator", "The Lurking Fear", "From Beyond" and "Necronomicon" to name a few.

Most importantly for our purposes, it was Lovecraft who put forth the concept of creatures from outside our known universe whose nature is so totally alien that the human mind cannot comprehend them. Think of all the stories you've read, the movies you've seen that employ this theme; they all owe their existence in part to Mr. Lovecraft. That includes Triad and hence, this site.
